Seth joined Flipkart in 2016, as chief people officer to fill in for Mekin Maheshwari, then HR head, who had moved on.

Nitin Seth, chief operating officer, Flipkart has put down his papers citing personal reasons. Seth was one of the top executives of the firm, who was responsible for the logistic arm Ekart and corporate functions like strategy and human resources.

Seth joined Flipkart in 2016, as chief people officer to fill in for Mekin Maheshwari, then HR head, who had moved on.

At that time, the firm was going through major restructuring in the management and so Seth was given more responsibility.

He was made chief administrative officer within six months of his joining where he handles strategy and corporate function.

In January 2017, Seth was again elevated as COO, when Kalyan Krishnamurthy became the CEO of the firm.

As a COO, he handled Ekart, the logistic arm and customer experience apart from other responsibilities.

This exit comes at a time when the firm is in talks of acquiring its competitors Snapdeal and eBay India. It is expected that there will be a need of re-allocating thousands of employees to different departments.

Last week, HR Katha had reported on CEO, Kalyan Krishnamurthy taking over HR functions and now he will also have to see the department which Seth handled.

At this juncture, HR will be a major concern and it will need a dedicated HR head to smoothly handle the major corporate restructuring.

It is learnt that the firm is in a hunt for new HR head to settle the things in place, but it will take time before it finalises one.

Prior to joining Flipkart, Seth was managing director and country head, India at Fidelity International. He also handled the Tunisia operations of Fidelity International. He joined Fidelity in 2010 and managed around 2600 professional.

Seth is a B.Tech in textile technology from IIT Delhi and an MBA in finance and operations from IIM Lucknow. He spent four years at McKinsey after IIM, handling financial as well industrial clients. He made major contribution in setting McKinsey Knowledge Centre. Further, he co-founded ActiveKarma Venture in 2000, offering a health & lifestyle solution via internet. Besides, he has been an active part of NASSCOMM and GIC National Council.
