Shetty joins from Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, where he was leading the HR and sales training function for India, North Africa and the Middle East.

In a recent move, Vinod Shetty, who was the vice president, HR and global sales training (India, Middle East & Africa) at Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, has just joined Sanofi as the director-business HR.

In his new role at Sanofi, Shetty will be heading the HR function for the pharma and consumer healthcare business. Shetty tells HRKatha that going ahead, Sanofi has a clear global roadmap focusing on various lines of businesses, under which there has been some restructuring that has happened both in the pharma and consumer healthcare space.

In line with that, “The next three years will see a strong focus on relooking at the businesses and making aggressive growth strategies, under the global drive. In that, I will be working closely with the business to ensure that these objectives are achieved,” he says.

At Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, where he spent over four years, he was leading the HR and sales training function for India, the Middle East and North Africa. He had briefly led HR for LATAM region during his stint. He was also part of the global leadership team, responsible for shaping HR strategies at the global level.

At Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Shetty had done some path-breaking work in capability development, including setting up of a learning academy, GCAT, which is a two-year long continuous learning platform.

Shetty is a management graduate in HR and also an LLB, in criminal and labour law, from the University of Mumbai. He holds a PG diploma in training and development from the Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD), Delhi.

Shetty started his career in HR in 1997, with Tata Donnelley and then moved on to Pfizer India in 2004, as the group lead-HR. He joined Glenmark Pharmaceuticals in 2013, after having spent over eight years at Pfizer.

Talking about his varied experience, Shetty says, “Having worked with Pfizer for close to nine years I also wanted to experience the Indian MNC culture which is what took me to Glenmark. Now, at Sanofi I have the opportunity to integrate and utilize both my experiences of how a global MNC operates along with the nimble-footedness of an Indian organisation.”
