The payment has been increased from Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,750 per month.

Attendant allowance, which is given to retired central government employees, when a 100 per cent disabled retired employee needs the services of a constant attendant for at least three months, has been increased by 50 per cent from Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,750 per month.

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions has brought in this change after it was recommended by the 7th Pay Commission.

The allowance is given only when it is sanctioned by a competent medical authority.

The order will be applicable from 1 July, 2017. The constant attendant allowance is paid in addition to the disability pension.
