The first three winners of Wintathon are eligible for a cash prize of Rs 100,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively.

The second edition of LinkedIn’s Wintathon was held in Bengaluru on November 11th (Saturday) and 12th (Sunday). Basically a hackathon meant exclusively for women coders. Wintathon participants are asked to build products or prototype themes based on mobile apps or machine learning.

The hackathon was started in 2016 and is open to participation from third and final-year engineering and B.Tech graduates as well as first-year M.Tech students.

The participants who obtain the first three spots receive a cash prize of Rs 100,000, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000, respectively.  The winning team also gets a chance to do a summer internship at LinkedIn.

HackerRank, a technology-based recruiting platform helped choose the 56 participants for this event initially, by conducting a test.

The winner of the Wintathon was team ‘semicolon’, who’s work was connecting LinkedIn members by an app which recommends other users based on events attended using tagging and sending users summary of chats in the past.

The judges for this event were senior product manager, Saurabh Agarwal, software engineering manager Vamsee Vanaparthy, senior manager-data science, Raghu Y, senior engineering manager Sachin Kakkar and senior manager-human resources.

The data collected from HackerRank revealed that although women constituted only 17 per cent of the total coders tackling challenges in its platform, India led the pack with the highest percentage of women coders at 22 per cent.
