The training will target all youth in the age group of 18 to 35 years.

Working towards skilling the youth in the country, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has partnered with Arvind Limited (Arvind Mills) to impart skill training to 20,000 youth by 2020, under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).

As per the partnership agreement, Arvind Mills will not only actively participate in training the youth but will also give its infrastructure, space, facilities and machinery for training purpose.

This skill training is open to all youth in the age range of 18 to 35 years, whether unemployed or employed, who seek skill training. PMKVY will help the youth thus trained in placing them with the help of Arvind Mill’s nine training centres in Karnataka.

Minister of State, Anantkumar Hegde, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship said, "Such trainings not only enhance productivity and employment opportunities for the youth, but also provide a ready talent pool to the industry. I congratulate Arvind Limited for their pioneering collaboration to accelerate the Skill India Mission."

Commenting on the collaboration, Manish Kumar, MD and CEO NSDC, said "Inclusive approach is paramount for sustainable skill development. Corporates are major stakeholders in this progressive journey and can play a pivotal role in narrowing the existing gap between the demand and supply of skilled workforce. This two-fold approach benefits both the stakeholders—the skill seekers and the employers".

Skilling the youth in the country is important because of the changing business skill sets required with changing time.

Senior HR manager, Arvind Ltd., Vikram N said, "Skilled manpower is the need of the hour and we shall provide employment opportunities to all eligible youth who successfully complete their training programme. It is a pleasure to associate with the Skill India Mission and we thank the Ministry for providing us an opportunity to work in this noble endeavour".
