Ajoy Salve, who was head of human resources - services cluster, horizontals, consulting & digital solutions at L&T Infotech, has moved to Dimension Data as head-people & culture.

Salve, whose career spans over 20 years, was with L&T Infotech for more than two years.

At Dimension Data India, Salve’s primary responsibility will be to design and deliver strategies to create a culture of trust, collaboration, and ownership, which will facilitate employees to accelerate their ambitions. 

“Such acceleration and development is directly proportional to the organisation's overall growth. And in order to achieve the same, I will have to act as the ambassador for the organisational culture and values, ensuring they are upheld and embedded. Besides, I will have to align all our people and culture policies and processes to ensure organisation objectives are met,” Salve tells HRKatha.

Dimensions Data believes that leadership and culture go hand in hand. The company places a lot of emphasis on its culture and drives employee behaviour through its six core values.

The foremost priority in this evolving landscape is re-orientation of our valued people to appreciate these technology and consumption changes, and re-skill them to deliver in this new paradigm.

Hence, L&D will play a very important role in this transformation journey. The next priority this brings in is the ability to attract and retain the best talent, which will be the key to accelerating our ambition.

According to Salve, the world of IT services is undergoing a major paradigm shift in the way it is delivered and consumed, with clients preferring to adopt cloud and align their IT spend with their business cycles. The objective is to move away from high capex and upfront investment to more utility-based consumption models. This calls for the ability to have more business-oriented conversations with deep commercial modelling skills as much as emphasis on technology.

“Getting the employees to appreciate these changes and prepare them for elevating their business conversations is an important element in this changing scenario. Also, as these IT consumption patterns evolve, the reward and recognition systems have to align to support a large number of small wins as opposed to the era of large blue-bird wins,” Salve asserts.

Salve started his professional career as a management trainee in the personnel department at Sunflag Iron & Steel Company. During his four-year tenure, he supported the implementation of performance management, training and development and industrial relations (IR). Thereafter, he spent two years at Brainvisa Technologies, an e-learning startup.

In 2002, he joined GTL as HR manager and moved to Steria India, as assistant V-P, HR in 2004. In 2006, he had a short nine month-stint with Siemens before he moved back to Steria again, this time as Sr V-P, HR.
