To enable its people to find more exciting job profiles internally, Infosys has forayed into the digital space and launched a new digital platform— Compass. Any Infosys employee who wants a job change now has the option of looking internally before moving elsewhere.
With an endeavour to enhance employee experience and offer easy access to resources, Infosys is looking to digitise various people processes, including performance management and talent management. Compass is one such talent management tool that not only allows employees to mobilise available opportunities in career growth, learning and networks, but also helps the organisation retain precious talent.
People desirous of a change in their existing profiles can now log on to Compass and view a curated list of opportunities, based on their skills and interests. Employees can create their profiles to showcase their professional achievements. The platform also enables them to share video CVs, endorsements, blogs and badges. Compass permits employees to network with like-minded people, leveraging their existing expertise and experience within the organisation. It also offers learning opportunities — both training and experience-based — which employees can choose from. Through the platform employees also get to make informed decisions based on actual experience feedback, as well as obtain a view of the trends in skills and domains within the organisation.
Compass was launched in March, 2016. Richard Lobo, SV-P & head-HR, Infosys, says, “It is designed to be a self-service portal, which enables employees to design their own journey within the organisation by empowering them with the right information, support structure and access”.
In order to generate curiosity and interest, the platform was launched with an 'on-invite' campaign. Sharing the employee response to the launch, Lobo said, “The ‘flash registration’ saw a good response from the employees resulting in over 6000 requests in three hours. Compass has been made available to our India employees first and subsequently we will have a phased roll out for all our employees. The tool will enable employees to chart their career growth within the company, making it beneficial to both the organization and the employee”, he added.
The software service giant has been opening up to the new-age norms as is clear from the many welcome changes made to the way it works. In November last year, the company decided to do away with the bell curve rating system, moving to a periodic online rating and also allowed employees to use social media while at work.
