JSW offers Rs 3 lakh as incentive to staff for buying electric vehicles

JSW Group has introduced a new EV policy for all its employees, wherein it is providing incentives up to Rs 3 lakh to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EV). The employees can avail this incentive policy to buy either two or four wheelers. Apart from that, the Company is also providing free of cost charging stations and green zone, that is, parking slots to employees at all JSW offices and factory locations.

This activity is aimed at promoting the adoption of EV amongst the corporate and government entities so that the nation as a whole, can move towards Net-Zero by 2070. In other words, the goal is to help the nation reduce the usage of coal, oil and gas significantly.

As per the Company, the transport industry is the third-largest emitter of carbon dioxide in India and the adoption of EVs will make India a more environmental-friendly nation. Also, EVs are more cost effective as compared to traditional internal combustion (IC) engine.

The EV policy will be effective at JSW Group from January 2022.

JSW Steel has already introduced a special climate-change policy where the Company has set a target to achieve 42 per cent of reduction in usage of carbon dioxide by 2030. JSW Steel is also operating a capture carbon and utilisation (CCU) of 100 TPD (temperature-programmed desorption) in India, where the captured and refined carbon dioxide is used in the beverage industry.

The Group has been making efforts to introduce climate-change policies and practices in business operations and decision making by adopting the best available technology.
