BetterPlace, a SaaS platform for managing frontline workforces, has acquired TROOPERS, a Malaysian flexi talent solutions technology company, which is the company’s second significant acquisition this year. The first was the acquisition of a majority stake in MyRobin, an Indonesian blue-collar workforce fulfillment platform.

The financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed, but BetterPlace says it will accelerate its presence in Southeast Asia and establish a stronger foothold in the region.

The acquisition of TROOPERS is significant because it will allow BetterPlace to integrate TROOPERS’ automated gig matching and rostering features into its SaaS platform. Southeast Asia is expected to see a significant increase in demand for gig workers in the next five years, with the gig economy growing faster than the conventional workforce since 2017. According to Pravin Agarwala, the co-founder and group CEO of BetterPlace, 84 percent of hiring managers in Malaysia prefer hiring gig-workers.

The acquisition will give BetterPlace an established customer base and enhance its capabilities in the region. By integrating TROOPERS’ technology into its platform, BetterPlace will be able to offer a more comprehensive suite of services to its customers in Southeast Asia.
