Mondelez extends its maternity benefits to surrogacy and adoption

The company has laid out a new policy on maternity and parenting.

India Inc. seems to be more considerate towards new parents than ever before. After all, this is one occasion which every parent looks forward to and a little extra benefit and help is always cherished.

After Vodafone, Accenture and Citibank, Mondelez is another MNC in India, which has extended some extra benefits to its new parent employees. It has revamped its existing maternity policy and introduced a new parents policy.

The company spokesperson says, “New parents need all the support and help they can get in this exciting yet challenging phase of their lives.”

This policy extends benefits to both its employees – new fathers and new mothers and as well their spouses.

For new mothers, the maternity leave has been extended to six months in addition to flexi-work timings for the first 15 months when they return to work.

Even for new fathers, paternity leaves are now for 10 days.

Besides, what’s unique is that the new parent benefits are not extended only to natural parents but even in cases of surrogacy and adoption.

The new parents policy places employees first and is aimed at enabling new parents to maintain a balance between work and personal life. The policy extends from pre-pregnancy, through pregnancy to the first tender year of the child’s life.

This is why the company plans to arrange for specialist doctors to speak to and attend to expecting employee mothers as well as for the spouses of male colleagues.

In addition, the new policy takes care of pre-natal and post-natal care in the form of regular checks and reminders for the expecting mothers. Mondelez has also extended healthcare benefits through wellness partners.

The company has also entered into tie-ups nationally with day care centres at discounted charges and guarantee of admission.

The spokesperson ads, “The happiness and satisfaction of employees is a critical part of the success and policies such as these are designed to support and enable employees through various life stages.”
