Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot has announced the appointment of 62, 000 new teachers this year. The state government has scrapped the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET) Level II, while keeping the results for Level I conducted in September 2021.

The exam paper had been leaked two days before the exam. REET Jaipur district coordinator Pradeep Parashar, along with 35 more people have been arrested till now for their involvement in the paper leak. DP Jaroli, chairman of the Rajasthan State Board of Secondary Education (RSBSE) was also fired for failing to prevent the leak.

The CM’s tweet says, “It has been decided to cancel the REET Level-2 exam. The level-1 process will continue as before”. The state will first hold an eligibility exam and then a final exam. He also assures that everyone related to the exam leak will soon be caught. He told the youth to not worry about the scrapped examination.

Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers is the qualifying exam for the recruitment of teachers. While the Level I examinations are conducted for the recruitment of primary school teachers, Level II examinations are for upper primary teachers (classes six to eight). The Level II exam will now be held with the Level I exam in July, 2022.

A committee is going to be set up to decide the date for REET, which is the biggest recruitment exam held in Rajasthan. Many young candidates appear for the exam every year in the hope of getting jobs in the government schools in the state.
