Global software consultancy, ThoughtWorks, will be hosting a technical training programme for women technologists, who wish to return to the programming world after a career break. Aptly called ‘Vapasi’, the first multi-city edition of the programme will be held in Chennai, Hyderabad and Gurgaon at the same time, to help women re-enter the world of information technology.

The four-week programme, which is scheduled to begin on 5 August 2019, will sharpen the technical skills of candidates through hands-on sessions on object-oriented programming practices. Once the programme is completed, the shortlisted candidates will have the chance to intern at Thoughtworks for three to six months. They can even apply for permanent positions later on.

The last six batches of ‘Vapasi’ witnessed participation of almost a 100 women developers and quality analysts. Many of them have already been absorbed at ThoughtWorks and other tech companies in India.

This multi-city edition of the programme is the biggest so far. At least eight editions will be organised across seven offices of ThoughtWorks in the country soon.

‘Vapasi’ has managed to positively influence many women (with minimum six year’s work experience) by boosting their confidence and their interest in learning and gathering new skill sets. The programme has successfully guided, mentored and coached a significant number of women who wished to resume their careers after a break.

A part of TalkTechToHer, an initiative by ThoughtWorks, the ‘Vapasi’ programme is aimed at making women familiar with emerging technologies, while at the same time, sharpening their existing skills and helping to get their careers back on track. Almost all the women who have benefitted from the programme swear by the remarkable patience shown by the mentors.

The organisation firmly believes that women can achieve as much as men and even more, provided there is no bias and they are offered the right opportunities.

The last date to register for the programme is 25 July 2019.
