AAI has reportedly even commenced the recruitment drive to fill approximately 2,100 posts in different cadres, such as ATC (air traffic control), CNS (communication, navigation and surveillance), engineering, human resources, finance, operations and planning.

To a query on whether retired employees of AAI have been re-employed on contract basis, the minister replied in the affirmative. He confirmed the re-employment of 35 consultants on contract.

The state-owned AAI manages 125 airports, including 11 international aerodromes, and also provides air traffic management services.
