Engineers, assistant station masters and guards will be hired in the safety category by the RRB and RRC.

Despite technological advancement, the rate of train accidents in India has been on the rise. The need is to learn from these accidents and come up with a system, which ensures safety and security of the passengers.

Considering the recent train accidents in different Indian states, the Indian Railways has decided to improve the safety and security of railway passengers by recruiting around 1 lakh people in the safety category.

Recruitment of junior and senior engineers, as well as assistant station masters and guards will take place in this category. The railway board has decided that, 50 per cent of the posts in Group C, as well as Group D will be filled by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). The remaining 50 per cent of the vacant posts will be filled by the Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC).

The Indian Railways had held on to these vacancies for a long time. In response to the several train accidents, the authorities now feel that along with the latest technology, equipment and tools being employed, it is important to have relevant manpower in place too.
