EPAM, a software engineering firm based in Pennsylvania, is intensifying its focus on India. The company is embarking on ambitious plans for the region, aiming to more than double its employee count in India, reaching nearly 20,000 employees.
The company sees India as a pivotal hub for both growth and innovation.
EPAM currently operates across five locations in India with a workforce exceeding 8,000 employees, reflecting a remarkable increase of about 150 per cent in the past two years. The company plans to further bolster its presence by recruiting 500 new employees in the ongoing financial year and an additional 1,000 in the following year.
In addition to expanding its workforce and office space, EPAM is fostering innovation through the establishment of ‘garages’—creative spaces dedicated to innovation across various domains, including cloud and data. The company is set to expand its existing facility in Bengaluru before replicating the model in other key cities such as Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad and Gurgaon.
Artificial intelligence (AI) plays a central role in EPAM’s efforts to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. The company is leveraging AI across corporate processes and engineering, aiming to fundamentally transform standard operational and development practices. This includes initiatives to redefine the engineering lifecycle through the integration of generative AI, as well as the development of domain-specific solutions using AI accelerators.
Overall, EPAM’s strategic focus on India and its embrace of AI technologies underscore its commitment to innovation and growth amidst evolving global dynamics.
