PepsiCo India is on a mission to revolutionise the lives of 1 million women across the country. Its newly launched programme, RevolutioNari, aims to bridge the gender gap in the workforce over the next three years. As Jagrut Kotecha, chief executive officer, PepsiCo India & South Asia, says, “RevolutioNari embodies our pep+ (PepsiCo Positive) philosophy. We believe by investing in women, we are investing in an inclusive future for our country.”
RevolutioNari focuses on three key areas: education, skills development, and job opportunities. The programme will educate women, particularly those interested in unconventional FMCG roles such as sales, manufacturing, and agriculture, about potential career paths. It will then provide training programmes to equip these women with the necessary skills to thrive in these fields. Finally, RevolutioNari will connect women with both direct employment opportunities and programmes that can help them build their own ventures.
Collaboration is a cornerstone of RevolutioNari’s success. PepsiCo India has partnered with a consortium of organisations, including Nirmaan Organisation, The Social Lab Foundation, and Internshala, that will help with outreach. It has also joined forces with the Assam Skill Development Mission and Directorate of Employment & Craftsmanship training to specifically upskill women students in Assam and prepare them for frontline positions at PepsiCo India.
The programme targets women from diverse backgrounds, reaching out to undergraduate students (with a focus on STEM and Agriculture), underprivileged women, and even senior secondary school students across 100 Indian cities.
PepsiCo India hopes that by empowering these women, it can not only improve their lives but also contribute to the overall economic development of India, as Pavitra Singh, CHRO, PepsiCo India and South Asia, highlights: “The launch of RevolutioNari marks a significant milestone in our decade-long commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our focus extends beyond merely providing opportunities and we aim to catalyse a fundamental change in how society views and supports economic empowerment for women.”
RevolutioNari builds on PepsiCo India’s decade-long commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The company believes that by investing in women, it is investing in a brighter future for the entire country. It’s goal is to achieve a gender-balanced workforce by 2026 across all levels. To achieve this, it will be rolling out several initiatives, including technical skills training programmes, awareness campaigns to educate women about career options, and targeted hiring programmes that aim to attract women to both management and frontline roles. Internship programmes specifically designed for young women will also be a key part of the strategy.
With a focus on education, skills development, job creation, and collaboration, PepsiCo India’s RevolutioNari programme has the potential to empower 1 million women and create a more equitable workforce in India.
