The Telangana transport department has taken a zero-tolerance stance against alcohol consumption on its premises. On Wednesday, they terminated the services of an outsourced employee, E. Suresh, for consuming alcohol in the government office Suresh has also been blacklisted from working in any organisation in the future.
Transport Commissioner Buddha Prakash Jyoti stated that a police complaint is being filed against not only Suresh but also two RTA agents, Madhu and Sadik, who allegedly entered the office with alcohol and provided it to Suresh.
The department is further taking action against those who failed to prevent the incident. Charges are being framed against the motor vehicle inspector/deputy transport officer (MV/DTO), Mohd. Ghouse Pasha, and other employees working in the Mahabubabad DTO office for dereliction of duty and violation of conduct rules.
This incident has prompted a department-wide review. A process has begun to identify all outsourced employees who have been in the same office for more than three years. These employees will be transferred to different locations to prevent complacency and ensure adherence to regulations.
Transport commissioner Jyoti emphasised that strict action will be taken against both government and outsourced employees for any violation of conduct within the Transport Department. He also said that such irregularities will not be tolerated at any cost in the future.
