ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India has appointed Debabrata Dash as head-HR, Eastern India. He moves from MSPL, where he was group vice president-HR and admin for three and a half years.
Dash, who has completed a PhD in human resource management employee connect, from Utkal University, also holds a post-graduate degree in human resource management and personnel management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar.
He began his professional journey with BILT, as executive, in 1995. Three years later, he moved to Odisha Hydropower, as assistant manager, for the Rengali Hydro Electric Project.
His next stop was National Aluminium Company (NALCO), where he joined as assistant manager-HR, in 1999. Among other responsibilities, he successfully handled the grievance management system, introduced the E-Helpline and E- PMS, as well as employee communication forums, in addition to competency mapping and mentoring.
From 2007 to 2009, he worked as human resources development manager, at ITC, based out of Kolkata. For a little less than three years, he successfully championed talent management, which involved designing assessment and development centres, implementation of customised interventions for capability building, and also SAP – HR implementation.
December of 2009 saw him moving back to Orissa, when he took up the role of AGM-human resources, Jindal Stainless. This was a short stint that lasted less than a year.
From 2010 to 2014, he served as head-plant HR for Tata Motors, working out of Jamshedpur.
In June 2014, he joined Tata Steel, as head-human resources department. For the next six years and eight months, he stayed put at Tata Steel. During his tenure, he successfully handled the merger of all project units and designed the organisational structure of the engineering and project division.
It was in February 2021 that he relocated to Karnataka when he joined MSPL as group VP (HR and admin).
