National Securities Depository (NSDL) has roped in Meghna Gupta for the role of chief human resources officer (CHRO). She has moved from Axis Bank where she was SVP-relationship head since June 2022.
An alumna of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Gupta is a commerce graduate who began her career with ICICI Bank as assistant manager-HR, in 1999. Four years into this role, she switched to Kotak Mahindra Bank, where she joined as AVP-human resources.
For the next four years and ten months, as an HR business partner, Gupta participated in the growth of Kotak Mahindra Bank and sought opportunities to understand changing business models and contributing to a fast-growth environment.
April of 2009 saw her joining Axis Mutual Fund as head-human resources. In this role, she was responsible for all people-based initiatives within the organisation, from both operational and strategic perspectives. She was personally involved in resource planning and recruitment, training and being the point-of-contact for employee-related issues. Additionally, she oversaw the company’s salary-review process, payroll, as well as compensations and benefits. For 13 years, she successfully worked closely with the MD and CEO, as well as other departmental heads, before moving to Axis Bank as SVP-relationship head, in June 2022.
Known for her ability to come up with brilliant ideas and solutions for the problem at hand, HRKatha is sure Gupta’s experience will stand her in good stead in her latest assignment with NSDL—the securities depository that handles most of the securities held and settled in dematerialised form in the Indian securities market.
