Maria Lorente Fraguas, presently serving as chief human resources officer, communications & corporate social responsibility (CSR), Nexans, will move to Bureau Veritas as executive vice president and chief people officer, on 1 October 2024.
An electrical and electronics engineer, Fraguas began her professional journey with Schlumberger, way back in 2001. She was part of the EcoScope team at the global technology company that drives energy innovation for a balanced planet.
Less than three years into this role, she relocated from France to Abu Dhabi with a promotion. The next year and a half saw her serving as wireline field engineer, before another elevation moved her to Qatar as engineer in charge, wireline, Qatar. A year later, in 2007, she moved to Peru as wireline field service manager. Her next elevation saw her relocating to Colombia, where she served as OFS recruiter,Peru-Colombia-Ecuador. From June 2010 to September 2012, she served as wireline product champion, based out of Houston, Texas. In 2012, she became wireline operations manager, UKG, based out of Aberdeen, UK. Two years later, she was back in France, as SL-HR, project manager. July of 2016 saw her being elevated to head of HR, wireline. Three years later, she became operations systems manager-transformation PMO, working out of Texas. Till September 2022, she remained in Texas, as human resources director, Schlumberger.
It was in October of 2022 that she joined Nexans, a company that deals in safe, sustainable and decarbonised electricity.
A highly motivated and energetic professional, Fraguas’ strong business and operations background will stand her in good stead in her new role at Bureau Veritas, the inspection, certification and laboratory testing services firm. The company, established in 1928, has a global workforce of 83,000 employees across 140 countries.
