A Tata Power employee has reportedly raised concerns over a controversial laptop buyback scheme allegedly imposed by the company. The Reddit user stated that he was asked to pay Rs 65,000 for the laptop, a condition he was not made aware of when he joined the company 1.2 years ago
The issue came to light when an anonymous user, identified as Melodic-Trainer8508, posted on Reddit claiming that the company is pressuring him to purchase the laptop issued to him for work purposes before he leaves the organisation.
According to the Reddit post, the company introduced the buyback scheme through a circular issued 5-6 months ago, outlining the terms and conditions.
The employee expressed frustration, stating that the scheme was not communicated at the time of his hiring and that the company is now enforcing it strictly, even withholding experience certificates from those who refuse to comply.
The Reddit user is now seeking legal advice from the online community, asking for suggestions on potential legal actions to counter the situation. He also mentioned his plans to leave the organisation in the coming months and is looking for ways to address the issue before his departure. The post has garnered attention, sparking discussions about employee rights and corporate policies.
