Ola Futurefactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, believes in leveraging the discipline and dexterity that women are known for. that is why it has only women in its workforce. Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO, Ola Electric has revealed intentions to hire more women and lead by example. He hopes that the automotive industry will be inspired to employ more women.
That is not all, the Gigafactory that is coming up not far from the Futurefactory will also have an all-women team.
The Futurefactory has 3,000 robots handling important manufacturing processes such as painting, welding, and assembling of batteries and motors. Together, the women and their team of robots have a production capacity of ten million.
This extremely advanced factory relies on quality-management systems that are driven by artificial intelligence (AI) so that there is high-quality production with high levels of accuracy. These advanced systems are able to identify the smallest of defects in the welding and battery manufacturing processes.
The Gigafactory, which exists just a few kilometers away from the Futurefactory, is being rapidly expanded. More women will be added to the workforce there, which will be involved in producint lithium-ion batteries, which will be used to power Ola’s electric vehicles. This will ensure that the company does not have to depend on imports for its electric vehicle (EV) plant at a time when most EV manufacturers are relying on supplies of lithium-ion batteries from China, Japan, Taiwan and South Korea.
Ola has invested almost $100 million in the first phase of the expansion of the Gigafactory.
