In a bid to achieve financial sustainability, Foursquare Labs has laid off 25 per cent of its workforce. This reduction affects approximately 105 employees across various units.
According to a report by TechCrunch, Gary Little, CEO, Foursquare, communicated the layoffs to staff via email. The email clarified that the decision was part of an effort to streamline operations and cut roles to secure the company’s financial future. Affected employees were immediately removed from the company’s system.
The layoffs impacted several divisions, including Foursquare City Guide, Visits and OCF. In his email, Little also announced a pause on multiple initiatives, such as Mobile Developers Tools, Geode, and the current version of FSQ Insights. These steps are part of the company’s broader strategy to focus resources on core areas that will drive long-term growth.
This recent round of layoffs is not the first for Foursquare. The company previously reduced its workforce following its merger with Factual, and again in 2022.
