The Government of Punjab has approved the implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission for employees of aided educational institutions under the Departments of School Education, Technical Education and Industrial Training, non-teaching staff of these educational institutions under the Higher Education Department, as well as retirees of aided schools.
The news was shared by Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on 20 June, 2024. The administrative departments have been asked to send relevant notifications to implement the same post assessment of the financial statements of the last three years of all the aided schools and colleges. This will give an accurate status of the finances/deficit so that a detailed proposal can be submitted.
This report will be examined by the Finance Department before sanctioning the finances to the educational institutions.
This is a step in the right direction to ensure that the education space in Punjab does not lack the required finances. The objective is to continue with the ongoing revolution in the education space and guarantee quality education to the generations to come.
