Automatic Data Processing Inc. (ADP) has acquired Celergo, a global payroll-management service, for an undisclosed amount.
This is quite a strategic move by ADP, as the market continues to shift towards global human capital management solutions.
The acquisition will enhance ADP’s international payroll offerings with a strong platform and new solutions, including cross-currency and expatriate payment services.
Celergo combines a proprietary cloud-based technology platform with a local provider network, to enable timely, accurate and compliant payroll. Based out of Chicago, US, the Company was founded in 2003 and has more than 200 multinational clients across 150 countries.
Through this acquisition, ADP will gain on three counts — it will get an advanced payroll solution for its existing clients; it will be able to extend its footprints with new clients in newer markets; and it will also get the support of Celergo’s outstanding team that has expertise in multi-country and multi-currency payroll.

Adding to that, Don McGuire, president-employer services international, ADP, said, “The acquisition of Celergo will allow us to leverage a proven platform that will improve both our client and partner experience.”
The multi-country payroll outsourcing market is over $3 billion today and is growing rapidly. This is because companies are looking for greater visibility over their increasingly global workforce, while efficiently managing the compliance elements of multi-country payrolls.
