The eighth edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit is going to be held in Hyderabad, India from November 28th to 30th. This is the first time that the GES event is happening in South Asia. The Summit will be co-hosted by the governments of the US and India together.

The theme for the summit is ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’. It is the first GES where women are majority participants comprising more than 52.5 per cent of the participants. The summit aims to demonstrate the commitment of the US and Indian governments to the principal that only when women are economically empowered do their communities and countries thrive.

The Summit will emphasise how women entrepreneurs help drive innovation and job creation, and also address some of the world’s greatest and most critical challenges.

The event will see women delegates participating from over 10 countries, including Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. Some of the women speakers at the Summit will be tennis champion Sania Mirza, Google’s vice president of Next Billion Users, Diana Louise Patricia Layfield, and CEO of Afghan Citadel Software Company, Roya Mahboob.

The three-day summit to be held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, will have two days of networking, mentoring, and workshops to exchange ideas, create networks and enhance knowledge.

Some of the topics for discussion at the Summit are:

‘Be the Change: Women’s Entrepreneurship Leadership’, a panel discussion on opening up opportunities for women entrepreneurs in their countries and communities.

‘We Can Do It! Innovations in Workforce Development and Skills Training’, a discussion on increasing women’s participation in the workforce through access to skills training, education, and mentorship. The innovators in workforce development and training will also discuss what works and what more can be done to open opportunities for women in the workplace.

‘When Women Win, We All Win: Promoting Inclusive Environments for Women Entrepreneurs’, a panel discussion on how to advance women in leadership positions, break the ceiling and grow.

The Summit will have participation of 1500 entrepreneurs, investors and supporters of entrepreneurship from 150 countries. The delegates can network with other delegates with the help of a mobile application. A wearable device is also being made available to the delegates at the Summit, which will link with the mobile application and connect them.
